New Head Wrestling Coach

The Loyola Academy athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Matt Collum as the new head wrestling coach. Matt joins us from Neuqua Valley HS where he was most recently the varsity assistant coach. Prior to that, Matt was the former Head Wrestling Coach at Timberland HS in Missouri where they had two 3rd places and 5th place finish at the Missouri state tournament. Matt has coach 9 state finalist and multiple state place-winners in the past 10 years.

As a competitor, Matt was a 3X All American in college (wrestling at Oklahoma State and Old Dominion) and a NJCAA National Champ for Iowa Central. In high school, Matt was a 3X Illinois state place-winner recording an undefeated season his senior year capturing a state championship. Was a 2X Fargo All-American, Fargo finalist, Northern Plaines Freestyle champion and was the High School Senior National Champion (tournament consisting of all the best high school seniors in the country).

Matt currently still competes in Freestyle at the senior level and hold a purple belt in jiu-jitsu training out of Carlson Gracie Team MMA – Channahon, IL.

We are very excited for the addition of Matt as the Head Coach of the Wrestling program and the passion and direction that he brings to this position. Matt has an amazing wrestling background and pedigree and a proven track record of training elite wrestlers and we look forward to the direction of the Loyola Academy Rambler Wrestling program.

Stay tuned for other BIG upcoming announcements (kids wrestling club, new assistant coaching hires, pre-season training and Freestyle and Greco club opportunities)!
